Everything Does Happen for the Best

Those who know me…know that I take on the role of playing “Aunt Agony” often n can go on endlessly with my gyaan. A blogger friend who I recently added on gtalk will vouch for this. This post is mainly for her and I would like to share this story with the rest of u all as well.

So yeah..my gyaan sessions almost always ends with “Keep the smile and faith. Remember Everything Happens for the Best”. I’m not sure how or by whom this idea about everything happening for the best got into my head. But it did and even back in school days I remember saying and believing in it strongly. This is what pulls me thru’ a zillion hard situations in life. But one situation made me Q this thought..

2004
When I started working, I had a colleague, let’s call her ‘A’. We were initially just that, colleagues and went on to become good friends. We would talk endlessly and confide in each other. She shared with me an incident that had happened to her sister about 2 months back. Her sister, say ‘S’, was seeing a guy n the 2 of ‘em were supposedly madly in love with each other. They had told parents on either side abut the relationship and sought agreement to marriage. They were waiting for A to get married as she was the elder one and then planned to get married themselves. The details of their love story was simply so beautiful. The guy was into trekking and hiking and other adventure sports and was visiting Bangalore for one such trekking expedition. He lost balance and fell off the cliff. He didn’t survive. S’s life became empty. The families were shattered. It was unbelievable that, he could be snatched away like that… Just like that!
When I heard this story…I couldn’t say my fav words, words that I believed in so much.. “Keep the smile and faith. Remember everything happens for the best”. I felt weak and couldn’t face S. Inside my brains I really struggled , trying to find a reason, draw some explanation as to what good would come.

2006
S met another guy, ‘G’, who she fell in love with. Then began the process of her faith in life being restored.Things started looking sunny n beautiful again.

I begun to gain back the faith in my fav words. Mabbe they were true.

2008
S and G got married in Feb. They look so happy n content together! Touchwood!

And I 2nd and 3rd the words “Keep the smile and faith. Remember Everything Happens for the Best”. There is a reason why God chooses to make happen all that happens. It’s important to trust, do our bit and leave the rest to him.

PS : Story -Telling is not my skillset, pls u'stand that thats not wat this post is about.

Yes--It is one adage I always believe in--"Evreything that happens does happen for the best--though it does not seem so at that moment." In retrospect, everything fits, seemingly into a grand plan--and life goes on.

A nice post.

I dont believe everything happens for the best, or that everything happens for a reason. Life does not follow any rules. It is all random. Some are lucky, and some are'nt. That's just the way it is.

As for whether there is a higher power who controls everything and takes care of everyone, I really do want to believe in that, but looking at current state of affairs in our world, I am not so sure.

Yes things do happen for the best. When things do not work out the way we plan them to, its because there is a bigger plan in the picture.

A story which touches and scares, praying that it wont happen with others... Amen!!! :)

**Keep the smile and faith. Remember Everything Happens for the Best.

Well, at times i do believe in the same words, and currently tryin to hold my life with these words only. Or may be the other way round is, there is a reason behind everything, gud enugh!!!

And as i say... "Pain and journey never ends...its just tat u have to forget it, begin a new chapter, take a new path, thinking of another journey..."

Cheers!!!

@Cosmic :
Life does not follow any rules, its all random- yes very much!

Some are lucky, some aren't - Not true. Its all evened out.We are all equally blessed.we can't see it 'coz diff ppl have their highs n lows in diff areas(personal/professional..etc) at diff times.

Pls don't take offense, m just being honest..U are being pessimistic. Being realist is okay..but why negative?
N yes, there are a hazar wrong things happening in our world, but therez a hazar good things as well. Do u not see the good things?
I heard that u think "Life is unfair", why may i ask?
n well, its not the end of life as yet..n until its the end one can't determine if things are for the best or worst. If one looks at the small picture, things do look wrong but looking at the bigger picture helps.
I've heard -ve energy has a way of working itself and making things happen and so does +Ve energy.n i blv its true. Its what u blv and trust will happen that will eventually happen.

No offense taken :)

It is ok for us to have different opinions about luck. As for the comment about it all evens out in the end, I consider myself very lucky so far .. which would that mean that things will start going bad for me .. ?!?!

As I mentioned earlier, all reports are in and life is now officially unfair :) Jokes apart, will all the needy people in the world have their needs fulfilled eventually before they die? Will all the criminals in the world get their share of punishment before they pass away? Will all the victims of crimes see justice served in their cases? Will all the downtrodden and oppressed people rise up? The pessimist within me says No.

If what people believed in and trusted were to happen eventually in every case, we would have a different world out there. But the pessimist in me thinks Not.

I would rather hope for things to get better, and work towards it. Andd if that happens, I thank my lucky stars.

@Cosmic : Hmm..mabbe u consider urself very lucky so far - 'coz ur alwez expecting the worst, so whn good things actually happen..u feel very lucky? The rest of us are mabbe expecting it all to go right and when somethings don't, we feel unlucky??

All needy, All criminals, All vicitims, All downtrodden may not get wat they deserve. But the Realist in me says atleast some in each category will. Some of what we believe and trust will happen.

n i'll join u in hoping & wrking for things to get better :-)

Im glad everything happened for the best for ya Pavi. Its a comfort to know that someone out there has it all happening for the good.

But somehow I dun believe that everything happens for the good. Atleast not in my life. My dad died when I was 16...how 'good' is that? And many other things in my life has happened for the worst. So I really cant believe that everything happens for the best..not always.

Hey Pavi
So glad to hear that everything worked out for the best for that woman. I however believe, that when something terrible happens to someone, like it did for that girl, it depends a lot on that person to believe that good things can happen again. Because if they themselves don't believe in it, they will never be happy ever again.

Kudos to that person for believing in herself, and allowing herself to fall in love again and be happy!!

for sure:-))

I'm sorry I made you cry with my post there. But then, that is life. And we gotta face, whether we want to or not..

MAybe you should come home and visit your nanaji. Will do a lot of good to both of you.

It is an interesting post - I do beleive in the statement a lot (we were taught about it in school I think in the third standard :)

First of all kudos to the girl.

Adding to what you mentioned and already had discussions above with many - I think when one does face a setback - it should not only be taken as a negative experiance but also a positive reflective phase.

Evaluate what was good and what went wrong and what were the reasons - then being stabilized is going to be easy. But if one simple avoids it by being totally depressed or simply avoids what has meted out to them - then they will and have seen many who fall into this trap of setbacks again.

Now here I am not talking about the person in the post - where her beloved lost his life - this is in general

Persistence with faith and trust turns the hard things around to good times and the trust in life persists.

i dont know if everything happens for best, but there is something to learn through every good or bad experience one gets in the life.
